Task risk assessment
The Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations require
employers to make an assessment of the risks that their employees, and others,
are exposed to at work. When there are over 5 employees the risk assessment must
be recorded. Each risk assessment will give an opinion on the level of risk and
make recommendations for reducing risks further.
Hazardous substance risk assessment
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations
require employers to assess the risks to health to employees from the use
of chemicals and substances.
Display screen equipment risk assessment
The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations require
employers to assess the risks to health to employees using computer screens and
other display screen equipment.
DSE (VDU) workstation assessments.
Fire risk assessment
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires 'responsible persons' to
undertake a fire risk assessment of their workplace.
Manual handling risk assessment
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations require employers to
eliminate hazardous manual handling operations, and where these cannot be eliminated
make an assessment of the risks involved.
BK Safety can lead you through the MAC system developed by the HSE.
Workplace risk assessment
The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations set down a
number of requirements for safety and welfare. A Workplace assessment will assess
compliance to these standards.
Workplace inspection
An inspection of premises or the work place to identify any hazardous
physical conditions, or unsafe practices.
Accident investigation
A comprehensive investigation of accidents or near miss incidents will
identify the immediate and underlying causes to help prevent them
happening again.
CDM Health and Safety Plans and Method Statements
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations require Principal Contractors
to develop health and safety plans for construction work (where the regulations
apply). Construction and many other industry clients stipulate that work procedures
be encompassed in method statements.
Tender Qualifying Documentation
Many larger contractors and local authorities require evidence of existing safety
policies and procedures, and details of previous safety performance (accident
frequency or incidence rates etc.).
Writing of safe systems of work - permit to work systems
Where tasks are complex, or there are serious risks of injury, it is essential
to have a written system of work. Typical examples are for permit to work systems.
