The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 require all employers
to appoint a competent source for health and safety advice. Guidance to the regulations
state that it is preferable for this person to be directly employed by the employer,
however, many people appointed to this position still require access to an external
source of advice. A generally accepted level of competence is someone having corporate
membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (MIOSH). More
and more companies are now outsourcing this aspect of running a business.
BK Safety is able to provide an Appointed Competent Safety Advisor retained service.
The service provides ongoing support for those who do not employ a health and
safety professional or can be used as a back-up to existing in-house appointed
persons. Packages, which start from as little as £50 per month, may be designed
