Appointed
Competent Person (Retained Service)
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
1999 requires employers to have access to competent help in understanding, and
meeting the requirements of health and safety legislation. Many health and
safety accreditation schemes recognise this requirement and will need
assurance that competent advice is available.
As Chartered Safety and Health
Practitioners, who are registered with the Institution of Occupational Safety
and Health (IOSH), we can provide competent advice and support. Retaining our
services as your appointed competent person enables you to have telephone and
e mail support, and annual review of your safety documentation - all for a
very modest annual fee, and any additional work is at a discounted rate.
Fire Risk
Assessment
The
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 covers general fire precautions
needed to protect people in most non domestic premises. The Order places
responsibility on the person in control of premises, as the 'responsible
person', to ensure that a fire risk assessment is conducted. The fire risk
assessment can be undertaken by the responsible person, but in most cases
there is a need for some technical knowledge that may be beyond their
competence.
The
consultants of BK Safety have undertaken recognised training at the Fire
Service College, and have completed fire risk assessments for a wide range of
premises. In particular we have conducted many fire risk assessments on care
and nursing homes.
